Site launch
28 MayWelcome to the new Mongolmania website. This site was put together for us by Karl and Karl from the University of Wollongong, Australia.
It’s here on the blog page that we'll be keeping our supporters informed of our progress on the 2008 Mongol Rally.
The Mongol Rally is a charity event, where teams must drive from London to Mongolia in a car that most people wouldn't see fit to drive to the local shop! Please visit the About page for more information on the rally.
We'll be supporting two charities, Mercy Corps, and SWORDE-Teppa.
Mercy Corps is an international charity, but the money we raise goes directly to the Mongolian division. In Mongolia Mercy Corps provides education, agricultural and economic programmes for rural families.
SWORDE-Teppa is a tiny charity, based in Tajikistan, one of the world’s poorest countries.
Please visit our Charity page for more information and links to their websites.
The rally starts on July 19th at London’s Hyde Park. That’s less than 2 months away! We’ll be crossing 14 international borders between here and Ulanbaatar.
We’ve been working hard on rally preparations for a full-month now. Even so, there is much work to be done. Of the 7 visas we require, we have only one. Our car is still an unknown, and we haven’t finalised which way to go.
Come along for the ride by checking this website for daily updates, and please support our journey by visiting the Donation section of this website. Along with progress on our vehicle and our visas, we’ll be posting information about the countries we’ll be visiting... you might even learn something!
