Night driving isn’t recommended

4 Jun

The passenger seat is installed, and I’m quite happy with my work. I removed the seat rails and adjustment mechanism from the old seat, and then made up some adaptor plates to connect them to the new GTi seat. The original rails on the GTi seat were 50mm further apart, hence the need for the adaptor plates. Some messing around was required so that the seat still moves forward and folds when the rear passenger pulls the release lever, but it all seems to work quite well.

I’ve been quite lucky as there is about 3mm clearance on either side of the seat, between the door and the 4wd selector lever. Any wider and the door wouldn't shut.

I’ve posted another video for your pleasure today. I promise this one is far more exciting than the last. It belongs to a couple of crazy Frenchman who tackled the rally in 2007. I’m not sure if they made the finish or not.

They say once on the bad roads in the East, you should never drive at night, and I think Team French Touch would be the first to agree!
