Essentials

26 Jun

There is a pile of rally paraphernalia on the living room floor that is getting bigger day by day! The new tent has arrived, and a more comfortable sleeping mat. Also in the pile is an 8m tow strap, and a 10m snatch strap. A snatch strap is an elastic tow strap, and is used to pull a vehicle out of a situation when it is stuck. The strap stretches as the tow vehicle drives away, and then the elastic contraction of the strap pulls the vehicle out.

We also purchased a short 5m tow strap. It was very cheap, maybe a bit too much so. The description on the back of the box says ‘This is a

nice tow rope. It can help to tow your beloved car away from the place where it breaks down’.

We’re still not sure how the ropes will attach to the Suzuki without tearing off parts of the chassis. We’ve added that to the ‘to do’ list.

Also in the pile is spare fluorescent tubes for the camping lantern and three folding stools (only 400g each – how long will they last!).
