Back on the visa hunt

2 Jun

I apologise, but these visa days really make for boring posts! Unfortunately, a necessary evil for our campaign. Today’s little milestone was picking up Stephen’s passport from the Kyrgyz Embassy, and then submitting our papers around the corner for the Uzbek visas...so far so good.

So on to something a bit more interesting. There are loads of relevant Mongol Rally videos around on the internet. I’ll be posting a few links so that you get an idea of the highs and lows of the Mongol Rally. We’ll start with a low. Here’s a short video of the first car to drop out of the rally in 2007...in Germany! It’s a blown engine, and is it just me, or is that car the same type as ours?

The Uzbek visas won’t be ready for 5 days, so between now and Friday it’ll be full steam ahead on the car prep — hopefully so the Mongolmania transport of choice doesn’t end up in a video like this one!

For the record though, a blown engine won’t be stopping us from getting to Mongolia...I hear Tim and Stephen are both very strong pushers.
