Rushing for Russia

4 Jul

The race is on for Stephen’s Russian visa. His passport finally returned from the Ukrainian Embassy today. It was posted on August 19th, with enough money to cover a 3-day postage time, and came back 15 days later. Hopefully he has better luck with the Russians, as it is only 13 days until he leaves for London!

I am now 100% committed to the rally effort, having thrown my last pizza at Bella Italia this evening. Thanks to the guys who were patient enough to teach an old man how to cook.

On the purchasing front I found a special shop called Pound Stretcher today, and bought up big time. I caught the bus there, and then had to phone a friend to get home, as I had too much to carry. Everything from storage containers to a shovel! (to dig the car out and possibly use for self defence).

I also bought another SJ engine today, and have organized a courier to transport it to our Brackley workshop. Next week Tim and I will strip anything we think might be useful. We’ll be heading up to the workshop with the Suzuki on Tuesday, to make our last little tweaks and adjustments.

Another couple of sizable donations today mean the fund-o-meter is ticking over nicely. We now have 1658 pounds of total donations. Of this 1479 pounds will go to charity, and 179 will go towards our costs. Thanks again to everyone who has made a contribution.
