Doing the hard yards
15 JulHard at work at our Brackley worshop today, and it’s been fairly productive.
We’ve fixed the leaking fuel tank that was causing us some concern.
Tim has welded some material to the inside of the rear guards, and in this picture he is sealing it with some underbody sealant paint. We were concerned about the amount of dust that might come in through the original holes in the arches.
We’ve given our wheels a quick coat of paint, and checked the bead where the tyre seals for rust. Tim is prepping the wheels for paint in this picture.
On the engine side of things I’ve done a lot of diagnosis work on the carburetor, to determine whether we could gain a few extra mph. Here I’m using a vacuum pump to test the secondary throttle butterfly. At the end of the day we decided it was all working properly, so no extra speed there.
...and here wiring up an oil pressure gauge. Hopefully this will allow us to catch any engine issues before it’s too late.
We’ve got some Mongolmania stickers to decorate the car with, but first we have had to remove the pin striping. It came off fairly easily, but trying to buff out the fade marks took quite a while.
I’d love to write more, but Tim is telling me to get back to work!
